Richard Provost - Baroque & Classical Guitar
Program: Bach, Villa-Lobos, Nikita Koshkin and Andrew York

Richard ProvostFounder and chairman of the guitar department at the Hartt School, University of Hartford Mr. Provost is regarded as one of the Country’s leading guitar pedagogues. His students have won or been finalist in major guitar competitions including the GFA, MTNA, ASTA, and Alirio Diaz Competition.

Mr. Provost made is solo debut at London’s Wigmore Hall in 1972. He has performed throughout the United States, Great Britain, and Germany. In addition, he has conducted numerous master classes and workshops as well as authoring three books on guitar technique. Mr. Provost records for GPD and Brioso Records.

Mr. Provost's program will include works by Bach, Villa-Lobos, Nikita Koshkin and Andrew York.

Ricardo Moyano - Argentine Guitarist
Program: TBA

Ricardo MoyanoBorn in 1961 in La Rioja in Argentina, Ricardo Moyano is one of the leading guitarists of the Argentine Folk tradition in the world. He started to play the guitar with his parents Irma and Daniel, later studying at the La Rioja Conservatory in Argentina. He later moved to Spain and graduated from the Royal Conservatory in Madrid.

Ricardo’s interests are not limited to Argentine Folk Music; as an exceptional improviser and composer, he took an interest in the music of various world cultures to create his own vision for the music of various cultures such as Turkish, Basque and beyond.

Ricardo Moyano has published more than sixty compositions/ arrangements and released eight CDs. He has performed throughout Europe and South America in Major guitar festivals and concert halls.

Fernando Espi - Spanish Classical Guitarist

Fernando EspiThe brilliant career of guitarist Fernando Espi is based on an innate musical sensibility combined with strong technical backgrounds. The press recognizes him as "one of the best Spanish guitarists of the moment" (Rhythm), "a new emerging talent ... an exceptional guitarist of the Next Generation" (Classical Guitar) and places it "among the brightest performers of today of the six strings " (Scherzo).

Fernando has won awards in competitions throughout Spain. His concert career includes performances in major festivals as soloist and with orchestras. He has also played in more than twenty countries across Europe, America, North of Africa and Asia

Music School Showcase - The Hartt School

Cubist GuitaristThe Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford. Hartt offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre.

The guitar department at The Hartt School is the oldest and most developed performance-based guitar program in the country. In 1968, Hartt graduated its first guitar major and over the years has expanded to offer a Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts. Hartt's graduates hold or have held guitar positions at many major universities. Their alumni have won awards in the Alirio Diaz International Guitar Competition in Venezuela, Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, American String Teachers Competition, MTNA competition, and Appalachian State Guitar Competition.
